Join us at Wild Spirit Woods, Congleton, for an afternoon exploring the town’s healing past through local stories, curious objects and hands-on activities.
Discover the lives of Tobias Parnell and Emily Elizabeth Waller, two local practitioners whose stories span centuries of changing remedies, beliefs and medicine.
Handle curious objects, investigate old remedies, make, create and experiment inside the Kin Apothecary, then take time to enjoy the sights, sounds and atmosphere of Wild Spirit Woods.
A little history, a little curiosity, and a breath of fresh air.
Kin by Nettie CIC × Wild Spirit Woods
For Kin, this project explores how local history can be encountered through curiosity, making and place.
By bringing stories of healing into Wild Spirit Woods, the Apothecary creates a low-pressure way to investigate the past through objects, sensory experience and conversation.
Rather than presenting history as something to simply receive, the project invites people to notice, question, handle, test ideas and make connections for themselves.
How can local history become something people investigate rather than simply receive?
What happens when historical interpretation moves out of a formal venue and into a woodland setting?
How can objects, making and sensory experience create different routes into a story?
